RAIDERS HOTEL SOLOMON ISLANDS
If you’re an international marine life adventurer constantly seeking the perfect underwater playground, the Solomon Islands absolutely has what it takes to top your list of must visit places. In an area popular with WW2 wreck diving and extraordinary marine life, the bio-diversity of the Solomon Islands is second to none.
If you are after an incomparable experience, inclusive of diving tours, snorkelling and accommodation, you should not look past the amazing Raiders Hotel & Dive. Raiders Hotel is a boutique hotel located on the waterfront of Tulagi Island in the historical Central Province (a.k.a. Florida Islands) of the Solomon Islands.
This prime location hotel overlooks the tranquil waters of Tulagi Harbour and onward to the hills and forests of Ngella, and with accommodation starting at around $85AUD per night, it has to be one of the most affordable places in the Pacific.
Raiders is a small hotel with 8 simple, clean & comfortable air-conditioned rooms on offer, but with the ocean and reefs on their doorstep they offer a number of options all of which are within easy reach of the hotel. Onsite, the restaurant offers a predominantly seafood based locally supplied menu, which is accompanied by a large variety of fresh fruit and vegetables grown on the islands. There is a waterfront bar located onsite as well, with a limited range of Australian and New Zealand wines and local beer.
Scuba diving is extremely popular in the area, with many sites close to the hotel boasting WW2 wreckage. Dive Sites include Double Island Reef, Catalina Seaplane (American), Twin Tunnels Reef, Kawanashi Seaplane (Japanese), Gavutu Landing Craft, RNZN Moa (NZ Minesweeper) USS Kanawa (US Oiler), F4 Wildcat (US Fighter), and Tanavula Point (Wall Drift) with dives ranging from 5 metres to 60 metres.
For non-divers there are options for many other water based activities like snorkelling, hiking, kayaking, or self-guided tours around the WW2 sites which still remain.
